The Talks, January 9, 2005, focused at importance of achieving just and comprehensive peace and its impact on establishing peace and stability in the Middle East, the question of terrorism and means of fighting it and the need of clean  the Middle East from mass destruction weapons. H.E. President Al-Assad reiterated the importance of dialogue.

H. E. President Al-Assad with His Lebanese Counterpart, Lahoud, signing , March 8, 2005, the minutes of the Supreme Syrian-Lebanese Council in bolstering of  bilateral  cooperation and coordination. Both Presidents approved the plan for the completion of the withdrawal of the remaining Syrian troops, which, thankfully, put an end to more than 15 years of Lebanese unrest and civil war.
