“As far as the educational and cultural levels, ahead of us lies a lot of work in the face of the dangerous foreign cultural attack influencing the belonging of our youth generations to their mother national culture. The basic to this effect is to work as to strengthen the Arab Language at the national level as the basis bearer of our culture, belonging, and memory; the loss of our language means the loss of history, consequently the loss of future. Before the Summit, there is the project as to link the Arab Language to the society of knowledge; so that our language is the language of culture and life preserving our existence safeguarding our civilized identity.”
From His Excellency Opening Speech of 20th Arab Summit (March29th 2008)
"Any talk of the Arab Culture should consider the Arab Language as its solid foundation; therefore, we should upgrade this language; the language of the Holy Quran which draws the attention of hundreds of millions; the very language in which half of the world history, the history of the world science and literature is written. Our language is that of the great poetry, thinking, philosophy and science. It is also so important to learn the living languages as to get acquainted with the accomplishments of human progress. This, however, does not mean to disregard our national language, nor to feel inferior before others. We have to be proud of our Arabic Language. Such a pride necessitates the enrichment of our language with all types of knowledge invention as to bolster its vitality, internationality, reactivating its role in the process of human awareness. There is no identity without language, and no homeland without an identity."

“ We have to accord every care to and interest in the Arab Language, which is mingled with our history, culture, and identity; so that this language is to live with us in our curriculum , information, and education as a living entity which grows, flourishes and gets developed, as to occupy the position our Arab Languages deserves as the essence of our national belonging; and so that this language is able to integrate in the course of knowledge and science development in the age of Information technology and globalization; and so that the Arab Language becomes a means of modernization and a strong shield in the face of distortion bids against our culture. We, in Syria, have accorded every attention to the Arab Language, where it has occupied , since long, a distinguished position of our cultural life . Today, we have to follow up the efforts as to upgrade this language, especially at a time when our national existence faces bids as to liquidate our identity and its components; the cling to the Arab Language is the means of adherence to this very existence.”
