DAMASCUS DEC.28, 2008- His Excellency President Bashar AL-Assad, the current President of the Arab Summit, called on the United Nations to hold its responsibilities as to secure an immediate halt of the ongoing Israeli crimes against the unarmed Palestinians in Gaza.
President Al-Assad briefed the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, who phoned H. E. the President, on the risks of the situation in Gaza as well as on the catastrophic conditions there.
President Al-Assad phoned the leaders of Qatar, Libya, the Sudan, Yemen, and of Algeria, calling for the holding of an emergent Arab Summit as to deal with the dangerous situation and Gaza, as well as with the means as to encounter the Israeli aggressions against Gaza.
Earlier, the Iranian President H. E. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, called H. E. President Al-Assad. The talks during the phone conversation dealt with the crime being committed by the Israeli occupation, as well as with means of moving through the Organization of Islamic Countries as to encounter the Israeli aggression against Gaza.
Syria strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggressions against Gaza and called on the Arab Nation as well as on the international community to use every means available as to put pressure on Israel to immediately halt its aggression, and to lift its imposed blockade on Gaza as to allow the food, human necessities and medical care conveys to enter Gaza.
His Excellency President Al-Assad gave the urgent instruction for the Syrian Red Crescent to carry human, food, and medical assistant supplies to the Palestinian of Gaza, being subjected to the ongoing all-out cleansing war by Israeli occupation forces.
