President Assad Performed Eid Prayers

 His Excellency President Bashar Assad performed Eid Al-Fitir Prayers here Wednesday along with high ranking Syrian officials and masses of citizens.

 The preacher of Omayyad Mosque delivered a ceremonial speech on the sublime and valuable meaning of the Holy month of Fasting. The preacher highly lauded President Bashar Hafez Assad's wise policy in tackling regional, international as well as domestic issues in the footsteps of his late father, President Hafez Assad, whose untimely death added a taste of bitterness to Syrians' Fitir in his ever first absence from Eid Prayers.

 "Your late father, Hafez Assad, had the upper hand in liberating the South of Lebanon; he had ever been with the freedom fighters in Palestine. Indeed, you are the best successor to the best predecessor,'' the preacher addressed the President.

 President Bashar headed later on among the crowded seas of people surrounding him to wish HE happy returns of the Eid to the monument of his late father in Qirdaha, his birth place, where he laid a wreath of flowers and recited verses of the Holy Koran to the rest of his soul.
