An Electricity Grid among Syria, Jordan, and Egypt Inaugurated

His Excellency President Bashar Assad , his Egyptian Counterpart, Hosni Mubarak and the Jordanian Monarch, King Abdullah the Second, inaugurated here Wednesday an electric grid hooking Syria up to the already standing Egyptian-Jordanian grid, in a prelude for an enlarged electricity linking with Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq, some African countries, and with some European countries.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were Lebanese Premier, Rafiq Al- Hariri, and Ministers of Oil and Power in Iraq, and in Turkey. President Mubarak and Jordanian King arrived earlier to the country along with accompanying delegations including several ministers and top officials.
President Assad held a meeting with the visiting dignitaries including President Mubarak, King Abdullah, and Lebanese Premier, Rafiq Al-Hariri. President Assad's talks with Mubarak and Abdullah were followed up at Damascus International Airport Lounge. The talks focused at the most important topics on the agenda of the forthcoming Arab Summit in Amman and the importance of making a success of the Summit under current circumstances, and of the activation of Arab solidarity as well as on issues related to electricity grid among the three brotherly countries.
