The Syrian Parliament Speaker, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Abrash ,on Tuesday 29th of May, 2007 , in accordance with Articles 84 and 85 of the Syrian Constitution, declared President Bashar Assad as the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, for another 7-year term starting from July 17th 2007, following his landslide victory of 97.62 percent of the Syrian voters.
