DAMASCUS May 5th 2008- President Bashar Al-Assad Announces 25% Increase in Salaries

Il presidente siriano: aumento 25% salari e pensioni

DAMASCO- La Siria ha deciso l'aumento del 25% dei salari dei dipendenti pubblici e delle pensioni di fronte al rincaro dei beni di prima necessita'.Il presidente siriano Bashar al-Assad ha firmato oggi un decreto che e' retroattivo a partire dal primo maggio.

President Bashar Al-Assad has issued the legislative Decrees numbered /24/ and /25/ stipulating a monthly pay increase of 25% to employees and pensioners.

Dr. Mohammad Al-Hussein, Minister of Finance, stated that President Assad’s decree to increase the employees’ and pensioners’ salaries came in a generous gesture from H. E. President Al-Assad as to improve the living conditions of the Syrians.

Minister Al-Hussein declared that more than 2 million Syrians would benefit from such increase of wages.

President Al-Assad has also issued a legislative decree numbered /29/ stipulating the creation of a special Fund for Agriculture Production Support.

The President’s issued decrees are in line with his keen on modernizing and developing the Syrian Economy in commitment to his pledge as to lead the country to the more of prosperity, welfare, and reform.
